Over 29,000 MWh Generated from Key Hydropower Plants in Hoot
According to a recent report by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, hydropower generation from three of the country’s major facilities—Naghlu Hydropower Plant, Surobi Hydropower Plant, and Mahiper Hydropower Plant—recorded a notable increase during the month of Hoot.
The combined electricity production from these plants reached 29,226 megawatt-hours (MWh), distributed as follows:
- Naghlu Hydropower Plant: 10,374 MWh
- Surobi Hydropower Plant: 10,831 MWh
- Mahiper Hydropower Plant: 8,020 MWh
The generated electricity was delivered to consumers through the national grid, alongside imported power, contributing significantly to meeting the country’s energy demand.
Officials attribute this improvement to timely maintenance of hydropower generation equipment and effective water resource management. These efforts have resulted in a noticeable enhancement in generation capacity and overall system reliability compared to previous periods.
From a technical perspective, optimized operation of hydropower assets and proactive maintenance strategies are critical factors in improving plant efficiency and ensuring sustainable energy production. Continued focus on these areas can reduce dependency on imported electricity and strengthen Afghanistan’s energy self-sufficiency.
Shahab Niru Engineering Company, recognizing the importance of such developments, remains committed to applying modern engineering practices and delivering high-quality solutions that support the advancement of power infrastructure and sustainable energy systems.
As a result the increased generation at Naghlu, Surobi, and Mahiper hydropower plants reflects a positive trajectory in Afghanistan’s energy sector, paving the way for enhanced grid stability, economic growth, and improved service delivery to consumers.
