DABS extends its power import contract with Iran

Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, the national electricity utility of Afghanistan, has announced the extension of its electricity import agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran for next year1405. The extension was formally concluded during an official visit by Breshna delegation to Tehran.

According to official statements, the visit took place by the invitation of Iran’s Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution Management Company. During the visit, both parties held a joint bilateral meeting focused on strengthening technical cooperation in the power sector.

Key areas of discussion included the development and enhancement of electricity transmission infrastructure, as well as the continuation of imported electricity supply from Iran to Afghanistan. These engagements underscore the importance of regional energy cooperation in supporting reliable power supply and long-term energy security.

While specific details regarding the volume of electricity imports were not disclosed, the extension of this agreement reflects ongoing efforts to ensure stability in electricity supply and to advance cross-border energy connectivity in the region.
